Looking for Don't Look Back
We eventually ended up at Tape Head Company on State Street, and while they didn't have it on vinyl, they did have one 8-Track copy left in the store.
Sausalito Summernight
When I got back to the states I searched several of the local record stores for the album and couldn't find it so I gave up. Several years ago I looked on Apple Music (aka iTunes) and found a digital copy of the single that I downloaded to help me reminisce about hearing the song for the first time in 1981.
Transistor Radios and Cool DJs!!
"Skinny" had a "hit" on the radio at the time. He had created a couple of mock interview sketches interlaced with snippets of songs to articulate some critical current events - the 1976 presidential election campaign and the popular antic of "streaking."
I Saved My $$ for This Album
When I got to the store and the clerk rang me up, it was apparent I had miscalculated the (+ tax) portion of my purchase that day, and absolutely needed the 25-cent piece I had found lying in the road. To whoever lost that quarter - I am eternally grateful!!
STYX - My First Concert Experience
In the stack of vinyl that came to my house was the fifth album by STYX - Equinox. I was familiar with the band as their big hit “Lady” had been all over the radio and “Lorelei” was getting heavy rotation on the AOR stations in Salt Lake City - shout out to KRSP-FM and KCPX-FM (aka Stereo-X).
